I have used a handful of portable grills in my time. However, finding the best tailgate grill was a bit difficult for me.

There is nothing more than I can really say except this is the best tailgate grill period. I have tried others in the past and they do not even compare. The price is great, the quality is great and it really does a good job of cooking the food the way you like it. The only complaint that I have about this grill is that it is a bit bigger than expected. Others have complained about the same thing in the past as well. For the best portable grill, it is quite a bit larger than a normal portable grill. Other than that this is the most reliable portable grill on the planet. It weighs around 47 pounds and comes in only one color, red. It runs on propane for cooking food and is perfect for tailgating. 5/5 stars from me and that is saying something.
2.Weber 10020 Smokey Joe
If you are looking for something a little bit in the lower price range. This grill has what you are looking for. Honestly for the price you are getting more than what you pay for. It might not look like much but this thing really does a great job. You can easily cook 3 steaks on this bad boy at the same time. As for portability, this thing only weighs around 10 pounds which is amazing. It’s pretty straightforward when it comes to setting up. Definitely, the best tailgate grill that cooks with charcoal in my opinion. It even comes with a glass nylon handle to make it easier to remove and put back on. Not much bad to say about this grill.
3.Coleman RoadTrip LXX Grill
We are back again with the Coleman grill because they really make some awesome products. The Roadtrip LXX is a little bit different than the LXE but not really that different. The color is black and it does pretty much everything the LXE does. The only downside is the price is a little bit higher and the model is a little bit older. Other than that this grill is awesome and has a good amount of reviews on Amazon at the moment. Its made out of stainless steel and has perfect flow technology that provides consistent performance.The cooking space on this thing is awesome, you can cook a massive amount of food on this thing. It also has 22,000 BTUs of fully-adjustable cooking power.
4.Cuisinart CGG-180T Petit
This grill is possibly the cheapest high quality portable propane grill out there. From what I can see they recently dropped the price of this grill quite a bit. There are a lot of great things that you could say about it. It’s much smaller than the other choices but packs a big punch. It has a 145 square inch grilling area and has 5,500 BTU power which is not much compared to the others on this list. Still, you get what you pay for and what you get is a pretty good portable grill.
5.Blackstone Tailgater Portable Gas Grill and Griddle Combo
You would think that at number 5 we would be getting into some pretty awful grills. However, this grill is not awful and actually is something I would buy. In fact, I did buy this grill and I use it once in a blue moon. I mostly use it for camping because it seems to be better for that type of grilling. However, I have taken it tailgating with me in the past and it did its job pretty well. It is pretty easy to set up which is a huge plus for me. This portable gas grill is a winner in my book. One of the burners is capable of 15,000 BTU’s and the other is capable of 20,000 BTU which makes for a very powerful.
6.Smoke Hollow 205
Tailgating will never be the same as the Smoke Hollow 205. The reason being it can really cook a lot of food at one time. It has a 305 square inch cooking surface. If you are looking to cook a lot of food for a lot of people fast. The Smoke hollow Tailgate Grill is your best bet for this.It also comes with a 10,000 BTU cooking power on the burner. When it comes to portability, the legs actually fold to make it more portable. This grill is great for tailgating, camping, picnics and basically anywhere that you are traveling. You can even use this at your own family barbecue if you would like.
7.Char-Broil TRU-Infrared Portable Grill2Go Gas Grill
The Char-Broil TRU is an infrared portable grill that is easy to transport and ready for the road. A lot of my friends and family have this exact grill and use it when tailgating. In my opinion, it is a great tabletop propane grill. It has a cast aluminum firebox and lid and dual stainless steel latches along with a temperature gauge. There are 200 square inches of cooking room on this baby. One of my friends swears by this being the best tailgate grill but I am going to have to disagree. Though it is a solid one, it is not the best by my experience and opinion.
8. Blackstone 36 inch Outdoor Flat Top Gas Grill Griddle Station
This is the best quality outdoor cooking grill available. Its just so darn expensive I would say it’s not even worth it. Depending on how often you tailgate and cook outside this grill could be a great buy for you. This is a best seller on Amazon so that means a lot of people are really into it. I have never personally tried this grill before but do not let that turn you away from it. Excellent reviews, excellent properties to it. 9. Coleman Sportster Propane Grill
Here is another cheap super portable propane grill if you are looking for one. I will throw this one at number 9 on my list because I like how portable it is. The stand is collapsible and makes a lot of room for it to find almost anywhere. I just leave it in the back of my car anywhere I go. Perfect for tailgating because it’s so easy to set up and move around. Its really cheap which is another plus. It has 11,000 BTU’s of cooking power as well!
10. Cuisinart CGG-200 All-Foods 12,000-BTU Tabletop Gas Grill
Last but certainly not least is the Cuisinart CGG 200 is one of the best grills available to us. it will have its rightful spot at number 10 because it is not reviewed enough on Amazon. If it had more reviews it would probably be much higher on the list. I enjoy the look of this grill, it looks nice and sleek. If you are looking for something a little different this is your go-to grill.
What To Consider When Buying A Grill
There are actually a handful of things you need to consider when finding the best tailgate grill. Before buying, look into all of these things and you will end up with the perfect purchase.
It’s quite obvious that the price of the product that you are buying us important. A higher quality grill will usually be much more expensive and have a better overall design. Check out the price before you do anything and it will give you a good overall sense of the quality of the grill. Remember it is the exact opposite of cheaper products. If you are looking into a cheap grill the chances of it being high quality are slim to none. It will usually be made out of cheap material or just have an overall bad quality.
